Holiday Diet

It’s that time of year.

I like baking, and I like eating baked goods. I like chocolate and candy. I also have a family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, and hypertension.

A few years ago my sister came up with an easy holiday diet, and I’m going to try it this year. From now until the end of the year, my goal is to eat five servings of fruits/vegetables per day. Then, I’ll eat pretty much whatever else I want to eat. Even though there’s no such thing as a vegetable (or a dragon). I’ll try to post regularly how I’m getting these servings so you can swipe some of my ideas. It’s a little late in the day for all five today, so…I’ll start tomorrow.

Actually, here are a couple for today:

1. Celery sticks–left over from a recipe using celery from last week. Warning: don’t eat too much celery in one day.

2. Chili–lots of tomatoes/juice in there, so I’ll get about a serving from that.

3. …yeah, I think I’ll need to get to the grocery store before I’m very successful in this venture.
