Muesli

I love muesli. What’s muesli? Granola’s more healthful, easier, just-as-good-in-yogurt cousin.

I started eating muesli while studying abroad in college, which means I learned to love a brand that is not easily purchased on this continent. Muesli can be purchased, buy why purchase something that is so easy to make? Last weekend I made some muesli by mixing the following things into a bowl:

  • Sizable pile of oats
  • Medium pile of rice cereal
  • Smallish pile of coconut
  • Smallish pile of sliced almonds
  • Smallish pile of chopped walnuts
  • Tiny pile of salt
  • The rest of my container of raisins

Then I stirred it, and I had successfully made muesli. I poured it into jars for easy serving and storage.

I combine one part muesli with one part yogurt for a delightful breakfast. It could be consumed with milk, with juice, with fresh fruit, or straight.
