FLYing Laundry

Laundry often gets the best of me. FlyLady recommends working on it morning and evening. I prefer to do morning and late morning, but on a good day I work on it twice. Sorting, washing, drying, folding, and putting away are the key steps. Skip one and there’s a pile. I do pretty well on most of these. I frequently do laundry while the kid’s asleep, so I don’t fold/put away her clothes. Sometimes the basket full of her clothes sits out for two days before I put them away, which takes about five minutes. Also, our dryer sometimes doesn’t dry in one try, so that slows me down. It does work much better since my husband took a dead bird out of the vent, but it’s still not amazing.

Morning routine:

  • Get dressed in the morning.
  • Recognize and beat down negative things with nice things.
  • Spend two minutes putting out a Hot Spot.
  • Five minute room rescue.

Sometime during the day:

  • Spend fifteen minutes decluttering.
  • Read FlyLady email.

Bedtime routine:

  • Spend two minutes putting out a Hot Spot.
  • Clean the sink.
  • Lay out clothes for tomorrow.
  • Go to bed at your bedtime.
